Historic Interest
Made up from two previous pubs which were joined together in 1967; The Crown Hotel which fronted High Street and and The Raven Hotel which fronted Whitburn Street. The Crown was first licesned in 1720. During the 1960's a large proportion of what was the Crown Hotel was absorbed into the adjacent High Street department store which was formally a Woolworth's. Amongst the the timber framing of the former Raven pub on Whitburn Street there is a tablet dated 1646 said to have been recovered from the debris of the town and used in the rebuilding of this pub.
In 1894 both buildings were owned by Crown and Raven Hotels who were part of the Broadway Brewery, who were then purchased in 1960 by Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries (now Marston's).
This Pub serves 1 changing beer (Marston's) and 0 regular beers.
