This Pub is Permanently Closed

CLOSED in August 2010 after being sold to developers in 2009 with planning application submitted for demolition and flats on site. On 17 February 2012 Merton's Planning Application Committee rejected a second application for insensitive redevelopment of the site of this closed pub in the historic Mitcham Green conservation area. An historic cricketing pub, first leased by Young & Bainbridge in 1831; the original building was bombed in the Second World War and the present building opened in the 1950s.
