Close to the northern reaches of Portsmouth Harbour, the Cormorant is a traditional style pub whose walls are decorated with numerous seafaring pictures and artefacts. There are also several stuffed birds, a cormorant, puffin and kingfisher etc.

A short walk down Castle Street lies Portchester Castle, reputed to be the best preserved roman fortress in Europe. The castle grounds and St Mary's a twelfth century church are open to the public, but there is a charge to enter the keep.
