Coach & Horses, Shrewsbury

Reopened on 21/11/25 after being closed for well over a year. A welcome rebirth of a former regular Good Beer Guide entry. Situated in a back street near Shrewsbury market hall, this is a street corner pub with a small bar and a snug with a larger separate restaurant area to the rear .The bar and snug are mostly wood panelled with a brick floor. Heating is supplied via a wood stove. Run by the same people the preside over Cromwell's (q.v.), an award winning pub elsewhere in town. Under its previous ownership, it declined catastrophically, but it is now "like it used to be" Background music is played and important sporting events will be shown on terrestrial TV.

Four handpumps in the bar serve three real cask beers from far and wide and of all styles and one cider, there is also a small range of keg beers, two of which include interesting beers from smaller breweries. The handpumped cider varies and may not always be "real" as defined by CAMRA. There is another two handpumps in the restaurant which can be brought into use if required.

A lot of real ale is consumed here and beers change rapidly and can be anything from breweries far and wide.
