Upmarket boutique hotel bar in the shadow of the Market Hall clock tower. Re-opened Nov 2013 after a change of ownership and a £500,000 refurbishment. Multi-level bar areas with a dining area at the rear. The bar itself has been moved from the centre to the side of the room affording more space for drinkers.
Following a change in ownership the bar re-opened in November 2015 with a new name and a major refurbishment. The layout has remained principally the same, though the above ground wine cellar has been replaced with a hot drink dispensing area. Window seats are now in place, allowing people watching or just time spent with electronic devices. There is a private dining area on a balcony above the main restaurant which is available for functions. The hotel part of the business is now referred to as the 'Sleepy Shrew'!
Three handpumps dispense a range of mostly locally brewed beers.
Outside seating on the pavement is well used.
