The Chequers is a traditional, good old fashioned pub situated right in the middle of Billericay High Street, only 3-4 minutes' walk from the station. The building is a beautiful timber framed Tudor building, thought to have been built around 1509. With its low ceilings, open fire, ambient decor & lighting, it is the most welcoming & comfortable pub in the High street. There is outdoor seating in the heated patio area at the rear of the pub which is also a great area in the summer too. At the front of the pub there is also a number of seats available where you can sit and watch the world go by. Bar is split into 2 areas with up to 4 real ales being served supplied by Scottish and Newcastle. Music is a prominent attraction, with accoustic night on Monday and other live music on Thursday. Karaoke also features, as do charity nights. Food is served Monday to Friday at lunchtimes only
