This Pub is Closed Long Term
This popular restaurant, bar and hotel was formerly the Rising Sun pub supplied by the long extinct Ashton Gate Brewery of Bristol. The premises was extended some years ago to become the Roman Lodge Hotel adding a smart restaurant and en suite accommodation. The Roman theme continued when it was named after the 2nd Legion Augusta who were based in Caerleon. It now trades under the less glamorous name of the Carvery (by the Gate). The comfortable bar was the original Rising Sun and retains a traditional pub ambience. The focus of the restaurant business is family roasts. For the accommodation arm of the business you may telephone or book on-line. There is Boules practice on Monday evenings in the summer and darts every Thursday.
