Originally a row of 16th century cottages, this heavily beamed thatched inn serves real ale by gravity from a stillage behind the bar, with not a keg font in sight. Cider is available in summer. Solid comfortable seating, open fire and inglenook complete the picture. The restaurant has an excellent reputation using local produce whenever possible and prior booking is advised. Take note of the unusual pub sign; two stuffed pheasants inside an illuminated glass case. Closed Mon and Sun evening in winter.
