Named after the unique preserved rope-hauled railway that runs nearby; note the coal wagon at front. The hand pulls are to be found in the spacious restaurant, non-diners welcome; at least one real ale usually comes from a local microbrewery. Some 17th Century hand made bricks can be found behind the bar counter. Holds weekly quiz nights and special food weeks. Very handy for the equestrian centre opposite; many other stables and fishing are also available nearby. The building is highly visible at night from the A1 by its illuminated blue star high above the southbound carriageway.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers (At least one generally comes from a local microbrewery.) and 0 regular beers.
