This Pub is Temporarily Closed
Large open plan town centre pub on main shopping street. It dates back to 16th century, having genuine claims to be oldest pub in Weymouth. This is disputed by some locals on the grounds that Weymouth is the area on other side of harbour, this being Melcombe Regis, and although a treaty of 1571 merged the two parishes they were not joined politically until 1920. Said to be named after former landlord's black labrador, the first seen in the town. Unusually can also be accessed from Esplanade as well as town side. Cafe style seating outside in summer. Recently refurbished and licensee change.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers and 2 regular beers.
