Large open plan town centre pub on main shopping street. History dates back to 16th century and has claims to be oldest pub in Melcombe Regis (Weymouth is on other side of harbour) and said to be named after former landlord's black labrador, the first seen in the town. Unusually can also be accessed from Esplanade as well as town side. Cafe style seating outside in summer. Recently refurbished and licensee chage.
