Friendly town-centre local, refurbished following a fire in 2015. It serves good value food, lunches every day except Saturday, and evening food during weekdays. The pub can get busy at lunchtime. The pleasant, enclosed courtyard garden has rabbit hutches and a covered side area with some comfy leather sofas. The function room and a pool room are accessed from the courtyard and a dartboard is in the lounge. Live music on Saturday evenings.

The once-interesting mural in the bar, painted some 40 years ago by an art college lecturer, was painted over by a previous landlord and is commemorated by a small picture.
