Aultbea Hotel started life as a hunting lodge for Lord Zetland in 1850. It has had a varied and interesting history since and is especially linked to the Russian Arctic convoys that sailed from Loch Ewe during World War II. The hotel is still visited by some of the remaining crew members, who visit the area and recall fondly their time in Aultbea and will gladly tell people their stories of drinking beer from jam jars, due to war time shortages and rationing.

After recent renovations the hotel now consist of 8 bedrooms, a seafood restaurant overlooking the loch and of course the local pub - which also serves a varied bar menu.

The pub has a regular ‘guest ale’ on draft from the An Teallach brewery, bottled Orkney (Dark Island) and Brew Dog, with plans to stock further Scottish produced real ales.

You can arrive by road taking the scenic route in past Dundonnell and then onto Gairloch, in terms of scenery, it is unlikely you will find anything more spectacular on the West coast. The famous Inverewe Gardens are a 15 minute drive away and there are Camping and Caravan pitches at Inverewe, Gruinard (N) and slightly further away around Gairloch.

Sea Loch moorings available and breakfast available by prior arrangement to non-residents.
