This Pub is Permanently Closed

Primarily a hotel with a bar. This ancient, 17th-century former posting house possibly had a brewery in the 18th century. Retains a Mauldons brewery window.

Historic Interest

Historically a posting house. Listed at 22 Friars St from 1874 to 1922. A report in the Ipswich Journal** on 19 Aug in 1882 states that : On 15 Aug 1882, William George Smith married Kate, eldest daughter of Mr Alfred CANSELL, Angel Inn, Sudbury.
