This Pub is Permanently Closed
A large, comfortable, traditional-style pub with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and an imposing bar. Built in 1938 it replaced an earlier pub which stood just in front of the present location on the bank of the River Frays. Within easy walking distance of Uxbridge town centre, and believed to be the only pub of this name, the former landlord thinks that it derives from an old heraldic name but had not yet been able to trace it. Held its first mini-beer festival in September 2008 with hopefully more to follow. Lunch is available from 12 till 3 Friday & Saturday and 1 till 5 on Sunday. Evening meals are served weekdays between 6 and 8.30. Live music every Saturday, a large beer garden with children’s play area and a permanent outside marquee connected to a downstairs bar add to the pubs appeal.
