A stylish modern bar and restaurant on the top floor of Waterstones flagship store in Piccadilly, formerly Simpsons of Piccadilly. With views to the south over the rooftops of Central London to Big Ben and other prominent buildings and landmarks this has been called "the best-kept secret in London". It's very popular, not least with "hot-deskers" attracted by the free WiFi. Food includes brunch, pub-favourite mains, and sharing boards. A wide variety of bottled beers, craft beers, and ciders, and a few keg beers are available together with wines and cocktails. Two-for-one cocktails are on offer early evening. A bar and table service is offered (note that a service charge of 12.5% is made for table service).
Also note that alcohol may not be sold before 10am, or noon on Sunday.
Historic Interest
Simpsons of Piccadilly opened in April 1936, at the time the largest menswear store in Britain. It was created by Alexander Simpson, and designed by Joseph Emberton, to showcase the range of clothing produced by S Simpson and company and DAKS. The building is listed Grade II* for its innovative use of materials and steel construction, and is regarded as Emberton's masterpiece. (Historic England reference 1226639). Many of the fittings and lighting designed by Emberton are still in place.
