Tap Social, Saxmundham

Situated on the ground floor of the former White Hart pub and hotel, this bar shares the premises with an antiquarian bookseller, care agency, nail salon and gents barber. The entrance is from the rear via several steps. The building originally dates from the late 17th century but was extensively changed during the 19th and 20th centuries, the White Hart having finally closed in 2013.

The bar consists of a single room, which previously served as the rear room for the hotel, complete with a large bay window and fireplace. One wall consists of an array of eight keg lines plus a single cask ale (there are plans to have handpumps installed). In addition, there is a fridge and shelving for cans and bottles. The décor inside the bar consists of a mix of partially exposed brickwork with white walls, wooden flooring and bare electric lights, whilst wooden topped tables and metal chairs provide seating with additional high seats by the bay window.

The single cask ale is currently from Earl Soham, whilst several changing keg lines from both East Anglia and further afield consist of, for example: Burnt Mill, DEYA, Duration, Pretty Decent, Stump Rat and Verdant.

The bar is proving to be popular with a wide range of clientele and with its intention to act as a community hub.
