The White Horse is a traditional two room pub and is run (with the intention of ultimately purchasing it) by the local community. It aims to support and promote local producers.
Three changing cask ales from East Anglian independent brewers are served by gravity from a taproom.
In addition to the stated opening hours, the pub is open from midday until 11pm on Bank Holiday Mondays. Pub opening hours are liable to change on a seasonal basis and the pub may also open for specific events. Visitors should accordingly refer to the pub's website or Facebook page for updates.
The pub is warmed by a wood-burner and wood-fired range. A range of Fairtrade, organic and local Adnams spirits is also available. As at August 2026 no food is served but hot snacks were previously available (heated by the wood fired range). Please check with the pub's website or Facebook page for any updates.
Some excellent non alcoholic cocktails (mocktails) are also available. There is regular live music and other events. The pub has a piano and guitar available to be played by visitors. Various pub games are offered including bar billiards, darts, crib and board games.

This pub re-opened in Dec 2011 after being closed for 8 years. Suffolk CAMRA Pub of the Year 2015, and East Anglia Pub of the Year 2015. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/956
Restoration
A characterful, cosy, two-room pub which could fool the unwary into thinking it is ancient. There is no bar counter, the beer is stillaged in a small alcove off the tap room. The public bar has a quarry tiled floor, a range cooker, bar billiards, a piano and the only game of 'Ring The Hartebeest' in the country, using a hartebeest horn from South Africa. The lounge is small with a wood-burning stove, a high-backed settle, pew seating and a large scrubbed table. The pub focuses on green issues - renewable energy, recycling, local suppliers, Fairtrade and organic produce.
Community Owned
The owners of the pub wish to retire and the pub has been on the market for three years. A community group raised the funds to purchase the pub, a plan that was actively supported by the pub's owners. The community group registered a Community Benefit Society. The pub was purchased in Dec 2025 and reopened in late Dec 2025. See this article and the group's website for more details.
