This Pub is Permanently Closed

One of the shortest lived pubs in the area's history. The premises were an off-licence, in 1940 the owner, Howard Harris decided to expand the business into a beer house but by 1946 it had reverted to an off licence. "Deer's Leap" was the trade mark of Mitchell & Butler's brewery but the connection is uncertain, a photo of the off licence shows adverts for Whitbread beers and Eley's ales. The building was demolished in 1968 to make way for the Guildhall Shopping Arcade, it was located by the Earl Street entrance to the arcade.
