Historic Interest

The Chester Arms dates back to at least 1822, acquired by Argyle Brewery, later Birkenhead Brewery, also known as the Chester Hotel. Mentioned in Sulley’s 1889 ‘The Hundred of Wirral’ as one of the 11 fully licensed pubs in Neston. The old photos show the original pub in 1903 and 1910. Name changed to the Old Quay in 1955, later demolished to make way for a new pub opened in May 1963.
