Historic Interest

The Horse & Jockey dates back to at least 1849 when it was shown on the Tithe map and listed in Bagshaw's Directory of 1850. An Argyle Brewery pub, later Birkenhead Brewery from 1866, it was closed on 30 November 1937 when the newly built Arrowe Park Hotel was opened just behind the pub.
