Sunderland's first micropub, The Lighthouse, is located in the centre of Fulwell. Formerly Bojangles cafe, the pub has been transformed into a small but comfortable bar. In November 2024 the pub underwent a brief makeover with additional keg lines. There are four handpulls and the real ales are Double Maxim, seasonal Maxim beers or local guests . Keg offerings include Lighthouse Craft, a rebadged Swedish Blonde keg. Occasionally real cider is available. There is a small drinking area at the rear of the pub and and seating upstairs. . They have a TV and background music. Closed Mondays & Tuesdays. Card payment available
There are frequent buses nearby to Sunderland City Centre and South Shields. Seaburn Metro is five minutes walk
