This Pub is Permanently Closed
A Victorian building, it was built as a railway hotel for the adjoining Baynards station which last saw a train in 1965. This remote country pub was split into a lounge bar, with a restaurant off it, and an area containing a pool table. Darts was also played. There was a large collection of memorabilia, including railway collectibles, and reputedly four friendly ghosts have been seen in the pub or the area immediately outside. It was beside the Downs link path and cycle way, which largely follows the old railway line. The Baynards brewery was set up at the pub in February 1996 but this closed in 2000. The pub itself closed in 2009.
