A free-of-tie micropub 'Ale House' on the busy A3057 Shirley Road, near Foy's Corner. It is the only pub in Southampton to dispense its draught beers by gravity only. The bar is at the back of the pub, with two inter-connected rooms leading through to it from the front terrace. The landlady ensures that the pub welcomes all. There's no music or Wi-Fi as conversation is encouraged. Much of the furniture is bespoke, and the witch-themed décor and pump clips add to the character of the pub. Visiting dogs must be kept on leads. The decked garden has a marquee and a gazebo to enable shelter.
Carry-outs are available (30p for a 2-pint container, or bring your own).
While the nearest station is Millbrook, Southampton Central is only a little further away (1.23km); this has very much better services and all local bus routes connect with it.
