Sitting at the southern end of the village on the old Winchester to London road, the Cart & Horses claims to date from around 1760. The interior has been smartly refurbished in 2023 and still features many ancient beams, the lowest of which are padded, and other rustic artefacts, though not over-done. The main bar area has a slate floor, the rest is wood or parquet. A bit of exploring will reveal a few hidden alcoves. The former stables/coach house is now a dining area that also doubles for functions; older people may remember this as the skittle alley. Two large outdoor seating areas, front and back, with the rear also having its own outdoor bar and a covered dining area.

Inside, the bar has a distinctive marble style top and three handpumps, one serves the Greene King house beer 'Cart & Horses Pale Ale' (Yardbird, 4% abv) and the others have a changing selection of local beers.

The Cart & Horses has a number of varied events and is unusual for having Saturday morning live music in the form of 'Jazz Brunch' every other week.

The food & drinks offerings are commensurate with the pub being a part of Greene King's upmarket 'Crafted Pub' brand.
