This Pub is Permanently Closed
Pub closed at end of trade 21/03/2015. To become a private dwelling. Planning permission for this had been granted in 2014. Our last description was: The pub was built around 1800. Its interior is a single space whose main part has a wooden floor, wooden beams, television, and an open fire; to one side is a carpeted area with comfortable sofas. Sunday's food service is from midday until 4pm; no food is served on Monday evenings. Wednesday is quiz night, and there is occasional live music. Nearby St Mary's church, the parish church of Totton, was much-restored in the 19th century; its interior remains essentially medieval, and is worth a visit. For buses from Southampton, the stop is much further away in the other half of Jacob's Gutter Lane across Marchwood By-Pass.
