This Pub is Closed Long Term
The owners who took over in 2016 ran the pub until the Covid lockdown March 2020 then decided to retire and put the pub on the market. The pub reopened 3rd December 2021 and as of August 2024 food in the form of toasties Friday evening and ploughmans Sunday lunchtime. The pub is available for private hire on Saturdays but is otherwise closed on Saturdays.
Opening times and food details up-to-date (August 2024) but much of the remaining detail on this page refers to the pre-2020 incarnation, including the following description:
New owners in 2016 - Philippa & Raymond Goold, she a painter, he a musician; Philippa's paintings now adorn the walls in place of the previous Victorian memorabilia. The pub is furnished with light wooden furniture. What was the rear dining area is now a light, airy and welcoming tea room where you can enjoy a slice of cake and a freshly made tea or coffee. In place of a piano is Raymond's double bass, used for impromptu jazz evenings when other jazz friends have dropped in for a 'chat'. The rear garden has a nice outside patio where you can sit and enjoy a beer.
Note that the pub may close earlier than the stated times, and Sunday opening may be later in Winter.
King Rufus, Eling
