Reopened in July 2024 with different name and ownership.
Family owned bar/restaurant (and free house) previously the village butchers shop. The bar offers two real ales. The owner is the Head Chef and proud to serve locally sourced produce in the separate restaurant. Outside there is a covered courtyard area plus a large sunny, grassed, walled-garden area with seating (dogs welcome). Beer festivals are planned to occasionally take place. As well as local buses the village can be reached along the Lanchester Valley Railway Path, which ran from 1862 until 1965 carrying iron ore to Consett steelworks.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 1 regular beer.
