Historic Interest
May also be listed at 1 Walnut Tree Walk Owned by Greene King from 1898. Originally only a beerhouse, the Walnut Tree got its full license on February 11th 1953.
Between 2019 and 2024, the pub was run by Helen and Ivan, and was a firm favourite (and many-time Town Pub of the Year winner) due to its wide range of well-kept cask and craft ales and its warm welcome. "Recently refurbished, this pub now offers a changing selection of beers on handpump and craft beers listed on a blackboard. A beer menu also advertises their craft beer selection which includes some unusual options for the area and good value snacks. The current landlord and landlady took over in March 2019 and have renovated the pub throughout and removed the pool table and dart board. The pub holds quiz nights every Monday. Vinyl nights on Wednesdays. Beer garden. Children are allowed in the beer garden until 20:00. Helen & Ivan usually offer 6 Cask beers & 10 Keg beers and Ciders. Harmoniously being served along side a range of Spirits, Wines, Softs, Coffee & Tea. The cellar has been refurbished with all new lines and beer engines. No bar service - table service only and no cash - Card payments only - No Cash Meet Up Mondays as part of Suffolk's campaign to #endloneliness. A weekly pub quiz and bring your own vinyl night, extending out to a monthly book club and as The Walnut already has a film licence in place for film nights in back room. Bring your dog with you, we love a good pub dog, there will be a treat in it for them. It will be up to you if it's a dog treat or a bit of your sausage roll or pork pie from behind the bar. We won't be offering food initially, but there will be bar snacks a plenty. We're hoping to start beer & food pairing evenings, meet the brewer, showcase some local catering talents. Spread the word, Suffolk has some great food producers and it's fun to try some new flavours and not have to wash up! Note: many of the "keg" beers referred to are actually served from KeyKegs, which are essentially Real Ales in a bag."
This Pub serves 6 changing beers and 0 regular beers.
