Historic Interest
A report in the Ipswich Journal** in July 1800 states that : Thursday se'nnight died, Mr Thomas Thing, of the Pickerel Inn, Stowmarket. An advert in the The Bury & Norwich Post*** on Tue 13 March 1866 lists this pub as part of the sale of Stonham Brewery together with 26 other premises. In 1874 Smith provided carrier services from the pub to Debenham on Tue & Fri, & Jolly provided services from the pub to Mendlesham on Thur & Sat. Owned by John Cobbold after 1923. The current building dates from the early 18th century.
