This Pub is Closed Long Term

This pub originally opened in 1997 as a Yates Wine Lodge. In May 2009 it was leased by JD Wetherspoon and converted into the Robert Ransome. Although popular this subsequently closed in July 2017 and the building reopened in August 2017, once again as a Yates.

The ground-floor bar was popular all day. The upstairs bar was open until very late Friday & Saturday, when loud music and dancing dominated. the pub closed its doors for the last time mid-2023.

Now used as a euro/asian food venue with several servers plus a communal seating area.

Historic Interest

Originally used as a carpet store. This spacious two-storey building adjacent to Tower Ramparts bus station opened in 2007 as a Yates Bar and nightclub. It was then operated by JD Wetherspoon as a bar and restaurant from 2009 until July 2017.
