This Pub is Closed Long Term

Closed and stripped of all evidence of having been a Wetherspoon's, including external signage. Building owners are advertising it to let as a pub/ restaurant, but the long term future is uncertain. Built in 1934 as the Southborough Arms to replace the original pub of the same name, which still stands round the corner and is used as offices. It was also the Academy for a while. Became a Wetherspoon's pub in March 1998. This large, multi area pub has an airy conservatory at front. Wood panelled with many photos and other memorabilia of the area and notable local residents; Petula Clark was born and raised in nearby Chessington. Many of the changing beers are from local micros, giving the pub LocAle accreditation. Has occasional mini beer festivals as well as the National Wetherspoon’s ones. Food served all day. Tue is steak night, Thu curry night and Sunday roasts are served. Outdoor seating area overlooks the roundabout.
