Attractive three-storey stone and brick pub with a curved frontage. The octagonal island bar hosts beers from all around the world, including a good range of cask ales and a very impressive array of draught Belgian beers for this side of the channel. Cavernous in both appearance and acoustically, there are several distinct areas - a few tables close to the bar, an alcove for live music (Jazz on Sundays), a raised area to the rear and an upstairs balcony area. The hot pork scratchings on sale are a hearty bar snack, well suited for the high-percentage beers you may find yourself up against. May close up to an hour early if quiet.
