Hotel *** Highlands & Western Isles pub opening and food service times currently vary nearly on a day-to-day basis, mostly dependent on establishments' access to bar and waiting staff. Hence you will almost certainly see different times than those published here. Please DO NOT send updates to either opening or food service times, as trying to hit a moving target is a waste of our very limited resources. Instead, overall opening and restaurant times will be updated at the next full survey. Your understanding is appreciated. We welcome notifications of 'dog friendliness' however four legs good, two legs better. As you might imagine for a website called WhatPub, the main aim is to highlight the quality of ales. Thus, please include an assessment of a pub's beer(s) when you notify us of its cynophile status! ***.
Located in a picture-postcard Highland village, this popular inn has been owned and run by a local family for many years. Locally-landed fish and shellfish take pride of place on the menu - the seafood platter includes fish smoked on the premises. Every Tuesday (and Thursday in the summer) there are live music sessions in the public bar and all are welcome to join in.
Normally, one of the two hand pumps features a brew from the Plockton Brewery (200m from the inn so very LocAle!). The other usually has an ale from South of the Border.
Under new owners and management since May 2022, the inn underwent major refurbishment in Winter 2022. The new owners are Highland Coastal Hotels, who since 2021 have also bought the Kylesku Lodge, Newton Lodge at Ullapool, the Royal Golf Hotel at Dornoch and the Royal Marine Hotel at Brora.
[Update 25 May 2025: report of Plockton Brewery's 'Plockton Bay' permanently available and in drinkable condition; live music on Saturday when visited.]
