Town centre local that traded from 1866-1888 as The Tiger's Head and subsequently as The Little Wonder, the latter name deriving from the winner of the 1840 Derby. This may have led to some confusion, as there was also a 'Little Wonder' in neighbouring Gravesend, which belonged to the same brewery.
It had been built on the site of an earlier pub, the Good Intent, and was rebuilt again around 1900. See photo of the pub as it existed before 1900.
The Little Wonder was part of the Russell's brewery tied estate, and the ownership would have passed to Truman's in 1930 when the brewery was sold. It continued to serve the local community until 1966 when sadly the towels went up for the last time.
The building has since been demolished, like almost everything else in the High Street, and the site is now part of The Hive housing estate.
