Town centre pub that had bars on two floors both of which could be accessed from the street or from an internal staircase, and an outside area on opposite side of road which opens during the summer months. November 2022 report says upstairs bar has become a 'street food' restaurant. Downstairs bar, 'The Coal Hole', has sports TV. The food is very tasty from meals to snacks.
Sunday opening is the beer garden only and weather dependent.
Stopped serving real ale in 2020 and handpumps removed.
Was a genuine old pub with a lounge bar on the ground floor and the Coal Hole public bar on a lower level but plans to knock through the dividing wall. A third storey was added to the building in 1914.
Update 2014: Was completely modernised by Randalls in 2010.
