This Pub is Permanently Closed

Closed since about 2021 and proposed for conversion to a shop.

This was a popular community local, consisting of a public bar, lounge bar and a children's room.

Planning Application: 20230491 Change of use from public house (Sui Generis) to retail shop (Class E). Application Date 05/04/2023. Conditional approval 13/06/2023.

Historic Interest

This estate pub was built by Ansells Brewery of Birmingham in about 1954. It was originally "The Everest Inn" commemorating the conquest of that mountain a year previously, but it was quickly renamed "Good Neighbours". It served the New Parks Estate, which was the first post war housing estate to be built in Leicester, the first home being occupied in 1946.
