This plain town local was formerly owned by the Leicester Brewing & Malting Company, and was acquired by Ansells Brewery of Birmingham in 1956. If you look carefully, you can still make out the remains of an 'Ansells' sign on the gable end. The pub has two fine tiled panels with a 'lion' illustration.
