Reopened after a very long closure in January 2023 as a high quality successful refurbishment by Caldmore Taverns that added a Rooftop Terrace to the rear of the pub. Six cask beers usually available. The pub has a single room that is arranged in several smaller areas with a games area to he rear.

Early Bird offer of £3 pint of house cask beer from Mon-Fri till 4pm. On Tuesdays any two cask ales for £6 all day. Pub games (eg Carrooka), darts and pool available. There is a Bingo night on the first Tuesday (6pm), and a Quiz Night on the last Thursday (7pm). Supports a Pool Team, Darts Team and sponsors local football team.

Awarded CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2025.

If coming to Congleton by train you can get to it by pleasant two mile walk turning left out of Congleton Station (back entrance) onto the Macclesfield canal and after just over half a mile then down and left onto the Biddulph Valley Way. The pub is 200 yards turning right from Congleton end of Biddulph Valley Way. (the route of an old railway line that shut in 1968)
