A large Chef & Brewer establishment, but with a rustic feel with interior plain brick walls and wood beams. The layout is labyrinthine with a number of small segregated areas served from the L-shaped bar where there is an open fire and a comfortable seating area for anyone not requiring a meal. Three or four beers are usually available the regular Thwaites Wainwright being supplemented by up to three guests which can be sampled by buying three third pints served on a tray with nibbles. Meals follow the pattern of all Chef and Brewer outlets, available until 10 daily, and there is a Good Night Inn attached. The pub prides itself on being family and dog friendly, and there is a quiz during winter months on Wednesdays at 8.00pm. Note that car parking is Pay and Display 24/7, but charges are refunded on purchases from the bar.
