The 300-year old Cross Inn gets its name from the substantial 14th Century preaching cross in front of the building, where local people used to bring their produce for sale on market day.
The Cross Inn was once owned by Godsells Brewery of Stroud, passing to Stroud Brewery in 1928 and thence through West Country Breweries to Whitbread ownership. The pub sign is preserved from the days when it was branded as a Flowers pub.
After a prolonged period of closure and concerns about its survival as a pub, The Cross re-opened its doors again in late 2022.
The Cross is once again a welcoming village local. Flagstone floors, separate rooms with plenty of interesting photographs of the local area, Four real ales, usually sourced from the breweries of the West Country.
