The Swan is the oldest pub in Bampton and was the original lodgings for the masons and craftsmen who were hired to enlarge the nearby church. Renowned for its food offering for many years, it has also grown a reputation for its beers. Under new management since September 2026, determined to continue and grow its reputation as a great place to dine, with a creditable list of independent brewery beers. The main room has a solid feel, with oak fittings, polished wood tables and boarded flooring, to give it a confident feel. The fireplace contains the original bread oven from 1450. A large public car park, on the site of the old railway station, is just 50 metres away.
