Castle, North Acton

Pub built in the 1920s to serve the surrounding industrial area of North Acton and Park Royal, but now increasingly neighboured by new housing, hotels and student accommodation, The famous former BBC rehearsal rooms (the "Acton Hilton") were next door, and the pub features in many memoirs of the post war TV scene.

The pub is usually busy with local workers early on weekday evenings but quieter during the day and at weekends. Seating areas of different character surround the main island bar, and there is a separate family room (which can be hired for functions) and a paved garden with heating.

London Pride is the only regular real ale sold, with one other changing beer from the Fullers range, and another guest. Beers sold have included those from the local Weird Beard brewery in Hanwell.

The Castle is directly opposite North Acton tube station (Central Line) at the junction of Victoria Road and Wales Farm Road - and indeed is the site of the original Wales Farm. Its building much later than other twentieth century pubs in Acton reflected a long campaign of opposition by the local temperance movement
