Most of the trade of this restaurant is from friendly, local people and it has a cosy atmosphere. The main pub at the front of the building is Grade II listed and parts of it, including the pebbled floor in the bar area, date back to 1531. The courtyard, used mainly in the summer, has access to Black Bess Woods, making it popular with ramblers.

Historic Interest

Grade II listing:- 16 or early C17 timber framed building of which only 2 bays remain and these are partly hidden by an early C20 north wing in Tudor style and very large modern extensions to south and east. Old tiled roof and upper parts visible, showing stout framing with brick nogging. Some heavy timbers visible inside. Graded partly for group value.
