Built in the 1880s, this pub has two rooms downstairs, and a function room upstairs. Totally refurbished internally and externally in May 2022. The smaller 'snug' is carpeted and has a dartboard. The main bar is spacious and welcoming with TVs and pool table. The corridor area also contains a number of individual tables and chairs.

Historic Interest

A Late Victorian former Shipstone's house with a heritage interior CAMRA rates as Regionally Important. Built of brick with a corner tower the interior is partially opened-out, but retains much original structure. From the corner entrance, on the left is a large plain bar with island servery, a wide corridor with seating behind the servery. Off this, front-right, is an opened-out snug with (unused) bell-pushes. An unusual layout for Nottingham. (www.heritagepubs.org.uk)In 1883, the Newstead Abbey was a beerhouse under Jas. Terry (Wright's Directory).Registered as an Asset of Community Value on the 10th March 2016 and nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA.As at November 2017, the freehold for the Newstead (NT349775) was held by Punch Partnerships (PML) Limited [Reg. A splendid large early 20th-century brick-built pub with a corner tower. Inside there has been some opening out but the original and unusual layout is easy to discern. This features a large plain bar on the left, an island servery with a wide drinking corridor behind and, front-right, an opened-out snug with unused bell-pushes.
