Pronounced 'Toon-i-frood', this cosy nook lies in a quiet backwater just off the main Blaenavon/Pontypool road. It was once two cottages believed to have been built in 1835 but today is a friendly community hub with three rooms comprising a traditional low beamed public bar with TV, a dining room, and a small games room with a pool table; crib and dominoes are also played. The tranquil surroundings of the secluded garden, with a BBQ area and boules pitch, face towards the wooded valley hillside belies its proximity to the busy main road. The Rhymney Export may be occasionally replaced by another premium strength ale, e.g. Wye Valley Butty Bach.
