Thought to originate in the 16th century this former public house may have been owned by the Llantarnam Abbey Estate before the land was acquired for development. It was once an isolated property surrounded by fields before the local housing area was developed. Now a social club operating a members' entrance policy, the interior is comfortable and welcoming, the public bar having a quite intimate feel to it while the lounge is spacious. A menu has been introduced offering good value food. There is regular Sunday evening music among the members with occasional live music on weekend evenings. Dogs are welcome in the bar.
