Formerly the University & City Arms and then a successful Firkin brew pub and then a keg only 'Scream' pub, the City Arms went back to real ale for a while but has dropped it again. There is a pool room where the brewery once was, and the bar area has lots of machines amongst its brightly-coloured sofas and chairs; the pub is very student orientated with food and drink deals for them and admits no under 18s. There is no garden as such but the side pavement on Magdalen Road has progressively been enclosed.
