Built around 1846, shortly after the opening of the adjacent railway station designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel on the Didcot to Oxford line, and originally called the Railway Hotel. Not surprisingly, the lounge is decorated with railway memorabilia. The bar is basic and has a small drinking area and the lounge is laid out as a restaurant. During the 1970s had a brief spell as the Jolly Porter with traditional jazz evenings and in the 80s and 90s rock concerts in a marquee. Changed back to the Railway Inn in 2007. A handy place to wait while you miss a train or two; if you miss them all there are eleven B&B rooms. The web site is out-of-date and the FB link on it is incorrect.
