Toby Carvery, Aldershot

Closed at the end of December 2017, with the web site saying "We have now closed our doors as a Toby Carvery restaurant to make way for something new & exciting."

The excitement eventually emerged as a new 24-hour gym, also including the neighbouring Harvester site.

Failure was unsurprising given this was a formulaic chain pub, focusing on below average food at below average prices, popular with families wishing to pile their plates high. The large open and well lit dining area, was served from a small bar, to the right of the main entrance, behind an open shelving unit. Decoration included a collection of Toby jugs and gravy boats and information about the constituent parts of a roast dinner! Outside was a small patio area, with a palm tree, roped off from the main thoroughfare of the new shopping centre where this pub restaurant was situated.
