This Pub is Permanently Closed

One of the finest public house buildings surviving in Aldershot. The fine exterior is really the only reminder of the days when Grosvenor Road was one of the most fashionable residential streets in town. The first known reference to it, as the Bank Tavern, was in 1866.

Sadly the pub closed in February 2015 a real loss for the local music scene as although it had a solitary handpump, rarely in use, there was a strong focus on music with jam session on Monday and live entertainment most Friday and Saturday nights.

The pub was converted into office use immediately after closure under permitted development rights and a planning application to convert it to housing was submitted in March 2018.

Historic Interest

This is arguably the most impressive Victorian pub exterior in Aldershot, the building stands as an impressive landmark building on the much changed Grosvenor Road
